liv i have a question about ur dear suna,, in most fics he's smoking a juul/cigarette so does he ever blow that smoke into readers eyes to be a little shit after inhaling ?!
suna's favourite game is "hide the juul" where without his knowledge or permission you take his juul and put hide it somewhere without him knowing (esp in your own pocket) and then when he asks if you've seen it you say no and then watch him search for it in confusion and even help him out looking under pillows and stuff and then when he's at his wits end bc he cannot for the life of him figure out where it went u just take one like long drag off it and he hears the crackle and turns around with the least impressed look on his face bc u got him AGAIN (trust me he loves this game, keep doing it.)

- was that JULES MORETON i saw by the lighthouse today? i heard that the TWENTY EIGHT year old who has been in nightrest for EIGHT YEARS and works  as a BARTENDER has a reputation of being CONFIDENT, but also CLOSED OFF. they reside in LOW POINT & people in town usually associate them with CHERRY FLAVOURED JUULS, TRINKETS IN THEIR HAIR, AND SLY SMIRKS FROM ACROSS THE BAR. let’s hope the killer doesn’t go after them next.
intro tws: harassment, immigration
Jules was born and raised in London, UK. She had a good life, raised by not just her parents but the whole community around her. Her Dad worked in finance and Mom as a teacher and they were both super involved in liberal politics. On weekends she was brought along to protests and rallies, speaking up for not only her community but all who were marginalised and left on their own. She stuck with this as she grew older, campaigning for multiple charities and it was in doing this that she built a love for travel. These were her passions in life, activism and travel, but unfortunately she never really got the grades at school to really go into politics or academia or anything like that. So, she dropped out of school at 16 and went full-time with the charity she was working for. During this time, her Dad became a leading figure for a leftist political movement and their family was always in the news. The tabloid press would follow them around, snap pics through windows, chase them in the streets. It was never to cover their side of the story - always to discredit her Dad, always to smear them. Two years of that really turns something magical into a horror film.
The pressure became too much, her Dad wouldn’t compromise, Mother wouldn’t accept the new way of life, and when she was 19 her once loving parents decided to get a divorce. Jules also saw what happened when you flew too close to the activist sun, the harassment that comes with trying to do good. She decided she, like her Mother, couldn’t handle all of that. So, she took an opportunity to come to the US figuring that it would be easier to keep doing good charity work but also fly under the radar here. She worked in NYC for a year, but eventually she couldn’t afford to do it anymore so she moved out of the city to Salem, hoping to get more in touch with her spiritual side here. Originally, this move was supposed to just be a year or so to build some money up and go travel the world. But, that was 8 years ago now and she’s still not moved on. One thing after another keeps her here, whether its a relationship or trauma or promises, she just can’t seem to get away. So, for now, she continues working behind bars and running odd jobs here and there some of them legal some of them... Absolutely not. In fact, part of the reason she can’t move away is because of those ‘odd jobs’ - one bad decision to dip into the pot she was supposed to sell and she’s tied by blackmail to the dealer. But, no one knows about that, at least, not that she knows of...
Jules’ is a pretty open character all in all, she’s very flirty, curious, up for a good time so she should be quite easy to plot with. I’m open to any suggestions and happy to rewrite parts of this to match timelines/plots!

you got any friends in any of your classes?
“Well, Alfred’s my best friend, but I don’t think that’s the answer you’re looking for. We also don’t share any classes, only lunch on B days, C days and F days.”
Tumblr media
“Francis is in my AP Biology class, and we’ve known each other since we were babies. Plus, he’s French. Which naturally means that we have a fierce rivalry. Also, he flirts with everything that moves. But we’re sort of friends.”
Tumblr media
“Gilbert, despite how he looks- and also talks, he speaks with DREADFUL English- is a whiz when it comes to English, grammar, and writing. And we’ve become rather good friends over the years. He’s also the Beilschmidts’ nephew, which doesn’t have much to do with this, but he definitely takes after his aunts.”

“Luka Kinard knew his vaping habit was out of control when it started costing him $150 a week.“I was selling my clothes,” Kinard, a 15-year-old high school sophomore, said. “I would get shoes, sell them, go out get cheap shoes, sell them. I was doing anything and everything to get money.”His parents noticed when his grades started plummeting.
“He went from being a straight-A student to an F student,” Luka’s mother, Kelly Kinard, said. “(It was) a very rapid decline in grades. His behavior became explosive. He was very angry and it just wasn’t him.” Luka stopped his boy scouting activities, stopped fishing and spent all his time locked away in his room. He was vaping.
Luka is part of what the Food and Drug Administration and the Surgeon General call an epidemic of e-cigarette use. And, as with most teens who are taking up the habit, it was the slender, easy-to-conceal Juul device that really got him hooked.
Luka was hooked in a way that doctors never noticed before with regular cigarettes. “The flavor was better than the taste of a cigarette. Also the buzz was a lot better,” he said. But it was a pricey habit.
“When I started spending $17 every four days or every day it was getting to a problem,” he said. “I realized (I was spending) $150 on pods in a week, and I noticed like this was getting out of control.”
What brought matters to a head was when he had a seizure. “He was at his girlfriend's house and an ambulance was called and he ended up in at the emergency room,” Kelly Kinard said. She knew it was the Juuling that had done it.
“We followed up with the pediatrician, cardiologist and neurologist, and we couldn't get anyone to listen to us when we told them the seizure was preceded by Juuling,” she said. “I found on the internet that it should be treated like a substance abuse issue. That helped when I called the insurance company and told them we need a referral for a substance abuse treatment.”
The High Point, N.C. teen ended up spending 40 days in an addiction rehabilitation program before he was able to kick his habit.
This makes sense to Dr. Sharon Levy, director of the Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program at Harvard Medical School.
“We've seen a real influx in the number of phone calls that we're getting for kids who need substance use evaluations and, remarkably, we're seeing a big increase in the number of kids who are coming in specifically to be evaluated for nicotine and Juuling problems,” Levy told NBC News.
“We're seeing kids that seem to be getting a much higher nicotine level in their blood and that’s causing a completely different picture when they come in.”
Other teams have found this, also, and the FDA is trying to crack down on sales of e-cigarettes to teens and young adults because they do deliver a much higher dose of nicotine than traditional burned cigarettes, Juul products, in particular, don’t offer a way to dial down the dose of nicotine-bearing vape fluid n the same way that other devices do.
The extra hit of nicotine can have especially strong effects on young bodies, Levy said.
“Kids are coming in with problems like difficulty in focusing, common symptoms of withdrawal, things like headaches, sometimes fatigue, stomach aches — which might be a symptom of nicotine toxicity or poisoning in some of them,” she said.
“We've had kids who come in and say that they can’t concentrate in school, that they need to leave the classroom, they need to sneak out to the bathroom so that they can hit their Juul, or that they need to go to the nurse's office because they just need to lie down,” Levy added.
“That's something we didn't see in use of cigarettes. This is very concerning. This is really uncharted territory and we don't know what use of nicotine in this way is doing to the developing adolescent brain.””
Continued in Link
TL;DR, vaping and juul’s really aren’t as harmless as a lot of people seem to think they are, in a lot of ways they can be more dangerous than traditional cigarettes. This article doesn’t even go into the way a lot of e-cigarette companies have been preying on vulnerable minority groups  that face higher levels of stress like the LGBT+ community and Native American reservations in their marketing. Like, taking advantage of stressed out vulnerable minority groups to sell them a toxic and dangerous way to temporarily relieve stress, but will eventually cause serious health problems for them, is actually pretty evil.

yakuza!suna/escort!reader bonus bit #1 - a little moment that doesn't rly fit in anywhere else in the series, just fluff, tw juul!suna rides again (off-brand juul edition) series masterlist
Tumblr media
"What's that?"
Rintarou pauses with the slim little cylinder poised halfway to his lips, the tapered end facing him. He glances over at you as you watch him from his bed, setting his pants (where he'd pulled the strange little device out from one of his pockets) back down on the chair positioned in one corner of his bedroom.
"An eCig," he replies.
He reads the little furrow of your brow as confusion.
"Like a vape," he explains further. You watch as he wraps his lips around the tip, taking a small puff as a light on the device glows blue and bright underneath his fingertips. After taking a drag, he blows a long plume of white vapour out from the side of his mouth.
"I know what an eCigarette is," you remark, a little indignantly. Your huffy tone seems to make Suna smile a bit to himself. "I'm just surprised you have one."
Suna pads across the room towards you, setting the vape down on the table next to his side of the bed. He kneels at the edge of the mattress, leaning over in your direction.
"Well,"--he cranes closer to you, and from this near to him you can see the quiet mirth swimming behind his eyes--"someone told me smoking's bad for me."
You purse your lips, rolling onto your back and looking away.
"Well, they must be pretty smart."
"Yeah," he laughs under his breath, "she's both."
Suddenly he reaches over, slipping an arm beneath your waist and dragging you out from the cover of his bedsheets until he's got you caged under his body--still poised on one knee at the very edge of the bed. He blinks down at you, his gaze soft, and you try to mentally follow where his eyes are looking as they sweep across your features.
You lick your lips, and there's no mistaking just what place his eyes hone-in on next.
He dips down slowly, slotting his mouth against your own--like he hasn't spent the past few hours getting his fill of you. There's a little bit of sweetness lingering in Rintarou's kiss, from the vape you think, though you can't quite make out a distinctive flavour--just a subtle, saccharine taste gracing your tongue as his own presses further into your willing mouth.
It's nice, you can't help but think. You crane up, like you're chasing it-- eager for more.
Suna responds in kind, slipping an arm underneath your waist again and helping you sit up to meet him properly. You wind your own arms up around his neck, and in this newfound hold he sits down with his back against the tufted headboard and pulls you into his lap.
He kisses you, wet and noisy and hungry, until you're breathless. So much so that you have no choice but to pull away after a few heated moments to draw in shaking gasps of air.
"You're good at that," Suna murmurs, nosing at your temple as you rest your forehead against his shoulder. You think about remarking that you've had plenty of practice, but suspect it's not the kind of comment he'd find particularly funny.
Plus, the compliment seems awfully rich coming from him--who just managed to kiss you within an inch of your life.
You tilt your head to the side so you can peer up at him, chest to chest, your head resting on his shoulder.
"What flavour is that eCig?" you ask him idly, your voice quiet since you're still a little short of breath. You watch as he reaches down to play with your fingers where your hand rests beside his own.
He pauses for a moment, the tips of his fingers pressed against yours. He searches your face curiously, as though confused by your simple question.
"It's flavourless."
